I was first introduced to the world of Bitcoin by a co-worker during my graduate program late November, 2013. He was sitting next to me in the office screaming and jumping up and down all week as the price of “Bitcoin” was skyrocketing over 1,000 USD. Intrigued, I did what anyone would do; I opened up my web browser, and typed “bitcoin” into the search bar. It wasn’t long until I began infatuated with the prospect of a digital currency and once I learned that I could generate it for myself through mining, it wasn’t long before I built my first rig “Medusa” pictured below. Building Medusa taught me a lot, and was my first real Bitcoin related project.
